ICCS™ CERTIFICATION DEFINED
You can not appreciate the value of something until you understand exactly what it is, so with this thought in mind, we will define exactly what ICCS™ Certification is all about. "Simplicity, Safety, and Value ", words virtually anyone will appreciate; these words are synonymous with ICCS™ Certification. This what defines ICCS™ Certification in the most simple of manners.
SIMPLICITY
ICCS™ Certification provides simplicity in obtaining the certification. The process is simple; fill out a form, follow the instructions, and it is done!
SAFETY
ICCS™ Certification provides safety, often times without your ever even knowing it! ICCS™ Certification provides help in protecting your assets, bringing in the target audience you are seeking to reach. ICCS™ Certification enables you to keep control of your web site, while helping maintain an International standard in safety and security for Internet web sites.
Are you aware that if a web site's content is not labeled with a PICS rating system, family members and employees can access it by accident regardless of the content hosted within it? This just goes to show that ignorance is far from bliss, but if a web site is ICCS™ Certified, you have the assurance that the web site content is PICS rated and has been validated to be consistent with the PICS rating.

Example: If your company is using a filtering/monitoring software solution, the program can be set to block adult/offensive content. If you come across a web site which has adult/offensive content and is PICS rated, your computer cannot access that web site.
There are far more variables of settings you can set, but you can learn about that from the manuals of the software solution you choose to use.

Good, positive, image, is vital on a web site. ICCS™ Certification, being a globally recognized standard since 1974, delivers the positive image which we all desire in our web sites. Much like the "Good Housekeeping Seal" from years gone by, the logo for ICCS™ Certification tells a visitor to your site that the content is PICS rated. It also tells them that you took responsibility to take the steps to get your web site certified in the best interest of others and to add value to your content.
NOTE:. Many times if a web site is NOT PICS rated and a filtering software solution is being used, which has been set to full strength or something to that effect, the web site will be in accessible.
NON-COMMERCIAL ICCS™ CERTIFICATION
There are two classes of ICCS™ Certification. The first is NON-COMMERCIAL ICCS™ CERTIFICATION. It is FREE and is designed for websites. This class of ICCS™ Certification represents the following;
- The web site has been validated as using an iWatchDog™ recognized PICS labeling system such as SafeSurf.
(SafeSurf is ICCS™ Certified and has been since 1994. ICRA once was ICCS™ certified but license renewal never occurred.)
- The content of the web site has been validated as being consistent with the PICS rating/labeling affixed to that site or specific page at the time of application for ICCS™ Certification.
- All links on the web site have been validated as linking to web sites that have no content which is considered "offensive" or "harmful" according to FTC and EU standards.
- The web site holds an active license to be posting a Non-Commercial ICCS™" Certified Seal.
ICCS™ Certification Evolves To Fit The Need
ICCS™ Certification originated in the U.S., but with time became accepted as an established standard in countries across the globe. As the momentum of recognition in reference to ICCS™ Certification increased, so did the questions of how it could be used even further. As with anything else in life, a solution must evolve just as the threats which it was designed to fight continue to evolve.
ICCS™ popularity became so great that multiple inquiries were made in reference to if a company could get their product or service ICCS™ Certified. Eventually, due to the high interest of the certification being applied to products and services, COMMERCIAL ICCS™ Certification was developed.
COMMERCIAL ICCS™ CERTIFICATION
COMMERCIAL ICCS™ CERTIFICATION is the second class of ICCS™ Certification and is designed for commercial web sites, products, and services. The certification represents the following;
WEB SITES
- Same features as listed for NON-COMMERCIAL CERTIFICATION and is part of the commercial product or service certification..
PRODUCTS
- The product has met the strict guidelines in our evaluation and testing process.
( Our evaluation process includes 26 pages of evaluation protocols which are used to develop
a final averaged out score from each category used in our evaluation. )
- Product is guaranteed to be of maximum quality, durabilty, appeal, and other specific value features.
- Product is available for volume sales in wholesale, and/or retail markets.
- The product is sold at a fair and competitive pricing level.
SERVICES
- The service delivers exactly what is claimed by the company
- The service is of the utmost quality.
- The service is provided at a fair and competitive pricing level.
